Karadi’s real name is Muniyaswami and he got involved in fishing when he was 21, after the small restaurant runby his father suffered losses . He was introduced to the dangerous method of fishing – Vedi Valla (blast fishing). It is the practice of using explosives to stun or kill schools of fish for easy collection. He was an untrained boy and didn't realize how dangerous it could be. An explosive device went off inhis hand and helost his hand and his eyesight. The blast left scars on his and gave him his new name- Karadi or bear.

Sharanya, 21 was the first girl in the village to get a govt job, in a post office when an officer recognized her exceptional merit in school. Her marriage was fixed at a very young age and she is being denied college education from her would be in-laws.

Selvi started to work with her mother when she was 8 and could never go to school. She fell in love with a neighbour at an early age and was pregnant at the age of 14. She was abandoned by the guy after a temple marriage was arranged to settle the case out of the court. Selvi waited for his husband to come back for almost 3 years while he was working away in Dubai and then later fought her case for almost 8 years in court for divorce. Finally received a compensation of Rs. 50,000, half of this amount was already spent on lawyers and official proceedings.
